Smile of the 90th day : “the miners”

“Potosi is the largest mine in Bolivia. Thousands of miners, including 800 children, are still working six days a week, from 7 am, in the dark, with a heat of 35 Celsius degrees, dust, noise, and with little oxygen…To support those  poor working conditions, they chew coca leaves in overdose. At the entrance of each tunnel, there is “Tio”, the god of the mine, and people should make offerings to him such as cigarettes, alcohol and coca leaves to be protected from the underworld. When they leave, they pray to God. “
